SuperGreen Roman concrete stool

This is a stool cast from Roman concrete. The material is called cocciopesto. It's a lime based mix that uses crushed brick and metakaolin clay as pozzolanic agents. The form borrows from classical Roman furniture and is designed for outdoor use, where rain actually activates the material's self healing properties over time.

The shape draws on the curule chair. I built it through a layered process with a structural base of large brick fragments topped with a fiberglass reinforced layer. The finished piece weighs about 75kg.

The pink colour comes from crushed brick dust in the mix. I left the surface textures to emerge naturally from the casting process rather than forcing precision. The material should speak for itself.
